And We Wonder Why

Hi guys! Thank you for your love and support despite me being lazy and not posting anything for almost a year now. Well sometimes, laziness just takes over you, right? Or maybe it's just me. Well I hope everyone tried their best to be productive during MCO cause I definitely did not. I spent most of my time planning and planning and attending online classes, finishing my assignments and tried my best to lead my church's youth ministry. I started using Tik Tok, surprisingly, I learned a little bit of Microsoft Excel from an account there. There are pros and cons I guess; it definitely takes most of your time and you become addicted to it quickly. But I had the time to also appreciate things and know the importance of missing out on family moments. Admit it or not, I think some of us found a new side of our families. Whatever it is, now we all have a fresh new start so make it worthwhile.

Sitting here on the 28th floor with a beautiful view beside me doing my internship made me realize I don't actually enjoy doing this. I didn't even want this in the first place when I graduated high school. I started liking office jobs, admin and managements departments after convincing myself that I'm an organized person and now I wonder; was it because I can dress up everyday? Was it because its a stable job? Was it because I can have proper savings and a long term plan on settling down? What's the actual reason I changed my mind? What happened with going with the flow? What happened to the person who would like to just give everything a try? Well, she needed the money and that's why she got a job in the first place. It all comes to the one thing : Income. We say that money is not everything, but are we really sure about it? Or is it a lie we tell ourselves to convince us that money is not a big deal?

Often times we wonder, why others have this and why we don't. Well, you know your answer now. I wrote about being grateful but at times it is hard for me to follow through. As a Christian, when the topic of money arises, we often shut it down by telling God will provide and all that and yes, He will. But at the same time, money is also a tool that God can use to grow our faith and trust in Him. Money is sometimes a tool to embrace. Confused? I was also confused when I first came across this devotion. Like, money and God can't go together. But we need to remember that money itself is a resource and our mindset about money is the one that makes the differences. Anything that you put above God is sin, this includes Games, Socialization, Pride, Money and many others. Most of the time, we're tempted to find security in money especially during the pandemic, we lost jobs, income was running low, so we decide to save up for ourselves. We believe that emergency funds we have will give us assurance that things will be better. But these will never remove our fears of the fund running low, only Jesus can do that.

I learned that as Christians we should share our resources, yes money is important and most of the thing comes from money, it's difficult without it, but when we are wise on how we spend and give generously at the same time, you'll see God opening new doors for you. We should not put our trust in money no matter how difficult things get, We should put our trust in God knowing that he is our Ultimate provider. When we think about money, we often worry about running out of it or not having enough. But as Christian, we should have an abundance mindset. Proverbs 11:24 says,

One person gives freely, yet gains even more;

another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.

When we focus on the things we don't have, we will never be satisfied, but when we focus on what we have, we realize we have more than enough. I'm not saying that you should not have a job and depend on God by not doing anything, I'm saying, overall what I learned is not be greedy. Also, as long you don't put money above God, you're good. Think of it as resource to serve God even more, then you'll be motivated to save up or earn more I guess.

P/S: This blog post was in my draft for God knows how long, decided to post it now. It's been 2 years already.
