I know this post is so random after 3 years of not posting anything actively but thank you for bearing with me! Hello everyone, hope everything has been going well for you guys after Covid hit us. So, why thank you for 3 years; In case you didn't know, I've been serving my church as a youth president for the past 3 years and I would like to write a little about what I learnt during the time I served. Started off as a committee member and being a leader was definitely something I was not prepared for. Every year, when I was given the opportunity to serve, I will tell myself that I'll do it for a year then step down, but deep down I knew I was gonna stay for a while.

Firstly, I would love to thank God for giving me the opportunity to serve Him despite me pushing Him away over and over. Till one day, He was like, I will keep pursuing you no matter how far you go. So yea, I took it. But during that time, I would also ask Him, why me, why not take someone who actually wants to do it and will do a better job than me? My previous president was someone everyone looked up to and I guess I was just afraid that I may not be able to keep the youth group united like she did and get the youths to be involved in the ministry as well. But I guess it was never about who held the presidency post, but it was more of how united the young people in the church are that no matter who took what position in MYF, everyone will be supportive towards one another. And that is what I love about the youths in my church. At times, we do struggle to work together but all of us have our differences and that also taught me to look at things in different ways. I would like to appreciate my committee that worked with me while I was serving the youth ministry for the past 7 years. We all became close friends who helped each other a lot. Thank you guys from the bottom of my heart!

The journey was definitely not easy. The moment I started, the pandemic hit us and since we always meet physically, it was definitely a challenge to come up with program ideas. After a few weeks of not meeting, we decided to go online where we invited different speakers to engage with us. I'm really grateful that despite doing MYF online, the youths were supportive to join the programs we had. Overall, the whole thing was time consuming and I would always get calls non-stop. Every time you would want to do something, someone will say stuff that will just mess with your head and you won't even feel like trying anymore. Through this I also learnt that many people in church are just using God's name in vain. You look up to someone and your whole perspective changes about them because their actions surprises you. Don't get me started by the way they manipulate you with lots, I mean lots of talking and wordplay. But I learnt that these are some of the people you will meet along the way while growing up. I guess I'm more prepared to meet new people and be less surprised when they do something.

To my church youths, you guys are a vibrant group of people, so I hope everyone continues to bring new perspectives and thoughts. I love that we are always supportive towards one another no matter how tired we get or how pack our schedules are. We try to find some time to help out in church and sometimes I feel the elders take advantage of that. But whatever la, you just do you. Special shoutout to you guys! Thank you again for having my back and teaching me lots of things! Much love 🖤
I didn't write much but I would like to appreciate everyone I worked with. I'm so sorry if I've missed out your names! Lots of love to you guys! 🖤

In no particular order: Cynthia, Amelia, Sherina, Stanley, Joel, Eltton, Desmond, Samuel, Calvin, Mercy, Ravelin, Jenisha, Salome, Sylvester, Ps James & Ps. Jonathan.
Shoutout to Sarib, Student Ps Immanuel, Elisha, Eveline, Jasmitha, Bryan, Andrew, Joshua, Jezreel, Jerome and every youth in church for always being available when I needed help.
Not forgetting my parents who were also our church's youth counsellors, for always having my back when things got messy. Thank you for being supportive and understanding, always being there to listen to me. It means a lot despite all the arguments.
